  • Baddie Brooks: A celebrated drag performer known for their bold performances and activism.
  • DaShawn Usher: A tireless advocate for Black LGBTQ+ rights, working to create safe spaces and support systems for marginalized communities.
  • Eshe Ukweli: A dedicated community leader and organizer recognized for their work in intersectional activism and social justice.
  • Michelle Visage: A television personality and judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” whose advocacy and visibility have had a profound impact on the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Miss Major: A legendary activist who has been at the forefront of the fight for transgender rights and justice for decades.
  • Robin Drake: An influential advocate for LGBTQ+ youth, focusing on mental health and support services.
  • Raquel Willis: A prominent writer and activist dedicated to uplifting the voices of transgender and non-binary people, particularly those of color.

As the parade wound its way through Manhattan, the theme of “Reflect. Empower. Unite.” was evident in every banner, float, and sign. Participants and spectators alike were reminded of the importance of reflecting on the progress made and the struggles overcome, empowering one another to continue the fight for equality and unity in the face of adversity.

The parade featured a dazzling array of floats, each more spectacular than the last. From corporate sponsors showing their support to grassroots organizations marching in solidarity, the diversity of the participants underscored the inclusivity and broad support for the LGBTQ+ community. Dance troupes, marching bands, and performers added to the festive atmosphere, making the parade a true celebration of pride and identity.

Community leaders and activists took the opportunity to address the crowd, emphasizing the need for continued advocacy and the importance of standing together. Their speeches resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the ongoing fight for queer liberation and the joy that comes from celebrating one’s true self.

As the parade concluded, the sense of unity and empowerment was palpable. The 54th annual NYC Pride Parade was not just a celebration but a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. By reflecting on the past, empowering one another in the present, and uniting for the future, this year’s parade embodied the spirit of pride and the ongoing quest for equality and justice for all.
